FIRST PREVIEW! Spider-Man: Turn off the Dark

Oh, what a tangled web they wove….

Monday, 29 November 2010

First previews are usually a bit messy, especially if the show features a lot of tech.Since SPIDER-MAN features – without doubt – more tech than all its predecessor Broadway shows combined, its first preview was perhaps the messiest in history.

Though my schadenfreudian self finds that fun to report, the messiness has absolutely nothing to do with the future of the show.In time, they’ll iron out last night’s many bugs (Ouch!), undoubtedly modifying or eliminating some of the trickier tricks, and punters who go to the later previews will see a smoothly-running show.

Phedre, A Disappearing Number, Hamlet, FELA!, King Lear, Frankenstein and The Cherry Orchard

NT Live’s second season will kick off on September 23, 2010, with an encore of last season’s PHEDRE, starring Helen Mirren.

This morning in the New York Post, a writer named Chip Deffaa weighed in with a Post column: “How Celebrity Ate the Tonys”.
